The number of children permanently excluded from state primary, secondary and special schools is on the rise again, increasing by 19% over one academic year. In 2016/17, 2,755 pupils were permanently excluded for persistent disruptive behaviour, which includes disobedience and persistent violation of school rules. This is the most common reason given for both permanent and temporary exclusions.

This one-day course will provide systems, strategies, procedures and checklists to reduce school exclusions. Delegates will look at ways to achieve excellence in behaviour management and wellbeing through a tried and tested whole school model, and will be given checklists to identify areas of concern along with ways to address needs and create effective pupil support plans.

  • Excellent! Clearly presented. Excellent course materials with practical ideas and resources which may be adapted. We look forward to implementing the 6 week programme which is highly relevant to the students we work with. This has left me with skills which may be used tomorrow and a programme to develop and implement in the future. Diolch!
